The Nebraska Department of Roads is currently pulling its plows from all highways in District Three at this time due to extremely low visibility.
Blowing and drifting snow is making the roads impassable. This is a life threatening storm. Travel is not advised.
The Nebraska State Patrol is advising all troopers to shelter in place where they can due to the extreme road conditions.
We are currently working a single vehicle fatality accident just south of Macy on highway #75 and an injury accident in Columbus. Travel is not recommended and extremely dangerous at this time.

City of Oakland is declaring a Snow Emergency starting at 6:00 p.m. on Feb. 1st,2016 until further notice.
Parking is restricted on ANY of the following snow emergency routes:
- Oakland Avenue from Fulton Avenue to 9th Street
- Second Street from Parson Avenue to Anderson Avenue
- Third Street from Charde Avenue to Anderson Avenue
- Engdahl Avenue from Third Street to the Oakland Heights Nursing Home
- Ninth Street from Oakland Avenue to Hwy 77
- First Avenue from Engdahl Avenue to Jan Scheree Drive
- Anderson Avenue from Third Street to First Avenue

Earlyne Fayann (Frey) Tomlinson, 79, of Emerson, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender, NE.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE; with Pastor Gretchen Ritola and Vicar Rebecca Truland officiating.
Private family burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home.
