Robert “Bob” Lee Peplinski, 68, of Pender, NE, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Pender; Pastor Randy Nelson will be officiating. The memorial visitation will be Friday, May 10. 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Pender. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Hope Lodge or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.

The aftermath of the recent flooding took a very definite toll on the community of Winslow, NE. People have been cleaning up their property, but some may not be able to return to their homes to live. Deborah Elise (Bue) Lund, age 67, of Bancroft, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE; Pastor Nathan Henschen will be officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Bancroft.
Deb was born January 9, 1952 in Sioux City to Vernon and Jacqueline (Menefee) Bue. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1970. Deb married William Lund on May 4, 1984 in Sioux City, together the couple had three children. She worked at the Sioux City Stockyards before owning Debbie’s Daycare for 30 years. Deb loved attending her kid’s and grandkid’s sporting events as well as watching sports on tv. She loved sewing, working at the library, and was an active member of the Senior Center.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Lund of Bancroft, NE; daughter, Tiffany Engle of Denver, CO; daughters, Danielle Lund of Lincoln, NE and Lindsey (Brad) Burhoop of Bancroft, NE; son, William “B.J.” (McKayla) Lund of Bancroft, NE; grandchildren, Bowdie and Tavis Burhoop and Liam Lund; and brother, Curt (Vicky) Bue of Sioux City, IA.
Deb is preceded in death by her parents; and niece, Alana Bue.

Karen Sue Swanson was born on July 20, 1951 to Ray E. and Dorla A. (Warnock) Swanson in Walthill, NE. Karen was baptized on October 13, 1957 and confirmed on May 6, 1981 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill. She attended grade school and high school in South Sioux City, NE. On December 14, 1967 Karen married Philip E. “Flip” Hetrick in South Sioux City. They moved to Walthill making this their new home. Karen owned and operated a daycare for over twenty years in Walthill, before retiring and watching after her own grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Karen enjoyed gardening, watching birds fly around her gardens and watching the Huskers every chance she had. She was an amazing cook and could make just about anything from scratch. Karen loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren great grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Tim) Ruge of Decatur, NE, Robin (Scott) Davis of Hubbard, NE, Jill (Tom) Ruge of Lake Park, IA; sisters, Kris (Chris) Hittle of Nickerson, NE, Kami (James) Pierce of Walthill, NE; brother, Jarrod Swanson of Wayne, NE; grandchildren, Nikki (Trevor) Mullanix and their children McKenna, Kallie and Mason, Noel Ruge (fiancé Sean Minton) and their children Brody and Jax, Hannah Davis, Hunter Davis, Tyler Ruge, Tanna Ruge and Taryn Ruge.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Philip “Flip” Hetrick; brother, Stephen Swanson.
