BRAN Riders Enroute to Lyons


The BRAN riders were headed to Lyons on Highway 77 last Friday. I was going to South Dakota on vacation and was sure to get some pictures of them on the highway enroute to Lyons for a much welcoming visit by the citizens of Lyons.

Happenings at Oakland Heights

The residents enjoyed the entertainment by Charlie Davis who came up last Thursday to play his Harmonica for them; they look forward to having him back next month. We also have a few activities this week I would like to mention.

On Thursday June 19th is the monthly Waffle Supper at 5:30 pm., and on Saturday June 21st the Rusty Buckets will be here at 2:30 pm. Next week on Tuesday June 24th is a Salad Luncheon for the Residents at 11:30 am, and on the same day we will be having treats out on the patio at 2:30 pm.

Church Service for Sunday June 22nd at 2:30 pm will be given by the Evangelical Free Church with refreshments served afterwards.

Activities for the week of June 23rd to June 28th   are as followed, , Reading with Marilyn, Reminiscing Group, Sing a Long, Crafts, Bingo w/Methodist, Reading Group, Bible Fellowship, Word Games,   Let’s Play Ball, Crafty Cooking, Friday Bingo, Saturday morning movie, and Lawrence Welk.

Volunteers signing in last week were; Judy Nelson, Mary Donovan, Seth Anderson, Dani Moseman, Anne Anderson, Marge Maller, Betty Hanna, Patty Miller, Di Ruwe, Bonnie Fleischman, Pat Anderson, Nadine Anderson, Cathi McMurtry, Tammy Waters, and Sly Rouse.

Guest’s signing the Guest book this past week was:   Ron and Mary Plageman to see Dorothy Larson.

River Flood Warning


The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a flood warning for the Missouri River at Decatur from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning or until the warning is cancelled.

At 2:00 p.m. today the stage was 26.5 feet or 8.5 feet below flood state. Flood stage is 35 feet.

Minor flooding is forecast. Rise above flood stage by Friday afternoon and continue to rise to near 36.1 feet by Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.This will impact local marinas, boat docks and low lying areas.

Food Pride Accepting Donations for Tornado Victims


Nelson’s Food Pride will be sponsoring a semi-trailer on Oakland’s Main Street in front of the VFW for those who wish to donate to the recent Nebraska tornado victims. The trailer will be there this afternoon thru Saturday. Items needed include: water, paper goods, toiletries, children’s toys, summer clothes, nonperishable food items, blankets, towels.

Nelson’s food pride will have a semi parked in front of the VFW to fill with donations for the tornado victims they will take the trailer load up on Saturday let’s help get this trailer filled!!! There are a lot of local ties to this tragedy!! So they need our help!! Items needed: water, paper goods , toiletries ,toys for the kids ,summer clothes nonperishable food items,blankets,towels . Let’s see how fast and how full we can get this trailer!!!
