Severe Thunderstorm Warning


The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for… northwestern Burt County in east central Nebraska… southeastern Wayne County in northeast Nebraska… Cuming County in northeast Nebraska… Thurston County in northeast Nebraska… * until 1100 am CDT * at 1015 am CDT…severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Wakefield to near Leigh…moving east at 50 mph. Hazard…60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. Source…radar indicated. Impact…hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs…siding and trees. * Locations impacted include… West Point…Wakefield…Wisner…Pender…Emerson…Walthill… Winnebago…Beemer…Bancroft…Rosalie…Thurston…the Highway 9 and 51 Junction and 10 miles west of West Point. This includes the following highways… Highway 275 in Nebraska between mile markers 101 and 123. Highway 75 in Nebraska between mile markers 165 and 171. Highway 77 in Nebraska between milemarkers 154 and 169. Precautionary/preparedness actions… Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter…inside a strong building and away from windows.

River Flood Warning


The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a flood warning for the Missouri River at Decatur from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning or until the warning is cancelled.

At 2:00 p.m. today the stage was 26.5 feet or 8.5 feet below flood state. Flood stage is 35 feet.

Minor flooding is forecast. Rise above flood stage by Friday afternoon and continue to rise to near 36.1 feet by Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.This will impact local marinas, boat docks and low lying areas.

Tornado Watch


The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch in effect until 7:00 p.m. for southeast Iowa, west central Iowa, east central Nebraska, northeast Nebraska and southeast Nebraska.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning


The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 1:00 p.m. for the following areas:

Northwestern Monona County in west central Iowa, north central Burt County in Nebraska and southeastern Thurston county also in Nebraska. Nickel size hail is possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include Emerson, Walthill, Winnebago, Decatur, Macy and Lewis and Clark State Park.

Wind Chill Warning


The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued a wind chill warning in effect from midnight tonight until noon tomorrow.Wind chill values are expected to drop to 30 to 35 below zero late tonight and Sunday morning. Northerly winds at 10-20 mph will help create areas of reduced visibility. Bitter cold temperatures are expected again Sunday night and Monday morning. Please use caution if outside as frost bite and hypothermia can result if precautions are not taken.

High Wind Warning


The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Burt County and surrounding counties in Northeast Nebraska from 3:00 p.m. this afternoon until midnight tonight. Winds from 20-30 mph with gusts to 35 mph expected in the afternoon. 30-40 mph winds gusts with over 55 mph wind gusts are possible from later this afternoon until mid evening. Sustained wind speeds of 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph and up can result in property damage.
