Santa Claus is Coming to Town


Santa will be in Lyons December 11th, 5pm to 6:30pm, at the Lyons Library. Sponsored by the Lyons Community Club and Friends of the Library. Refreshments will be served in the Library meeting room and each child will get a book. Parents should bring their own camera.

Bancroft Senior Center News


* The senior center provides Information and Assistance to any individual who is looking for services for themselves or another person 60 years and older, the center manager and/or center participant can provide information to individuals on services available within the community. We link individuals to the services and opportunities that are available within or beyond the community itself. We will then establish adequate follow-up procedures to see that their needs were met. For more information call 402-648-3387.

*If you are 60 years and older and need information on programs designed to help keep you in your home longer or if you need legal help, contact Connie at 402-648-3387 or in the evening at 402-648-7648.

* We have the following medical equipment to loan out on an as need basis, wheel chair, bath seats, toilet seat riser and portable toilet chair, crutches or walker. Call 402-648-3387 during office hours.

Weekly Activities:

Wed. Dec. 11: Melody chimes practice at 9:00.  Join us for coffee at 10:00. Come and bowl on the Wii game at 1:00 and then play bingo at 2:00.

Thurs. Dec. 12: Pool at 9:30. Join us for Tai Chi at 9:30 and walking exercises at 10:00. Come in to play dominoes or the card game 65 at 1:30.

Fri. 13: Pool players go to Wisner for a tournament. The meal for today is baked spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert; remember to call and make your reservation the day before. Just a reminder that you need to sign up to play in the pinochle tournament at 1:30.

Mon. Dec. 16: Stop in for a cup of coffee. Note the time change; the caregiver support group meeting will start at 1:30 instead of 2:00. Anyone who is a caregiver is welcome to attend the meeting.

Tues. Dec 17: Pool at 9:30. The walking ex. class is at 10:00, there is room for more people to join the class. Sign up for the pinochle tournament at 1:30. There is no evening meal or evening card party.

Wed. Dec 18:  Join us for coffee at 9:30. Today we will have the center Christmas party at 1:30 with music by the melody chimers and some of the students from the school will sing for us.

Caregiver Support Group Meeting

The monthly Caregiver Support Group will meet at the Bancroft Senior Center, this coming Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.  The meetings are very informal; various topics are discussed and those who attend are encouraged to share their ups and downs of being a caregiver. If you are a caregiver and have never attended a meeting, please feel free to come and join us.
