Current atmospheric conditions over east central and northeast Nebraska and western Iowa support the development of funnel clouds. From now until 6 PM...conditions will become favorable for funnel clouds from east of a line from Ashland to Pender and north of US 34. Usually, these funnel clouds can form in the early stages of developing showers and weak thunderstorms. These funnels are normally brief, drop only a few hundred feet from the cloud base, and rarely become a tornado or cause damage. However, if one is spotted, please immediately report it to the National Weather Service. If a tornado warning would become necessary, take appropriate action. People should monitor the weather situation closely. Listen for possible warnings, and be prepared to take appropriate action should severe weather threaten.
