*If you are 60+ and need information on programs designed to help keep you stay in your home longer or if you need legal help, contact Connie at 402-648-3387 or in the evening at 402-648-7648. There are no membership fees or attendance requirements and new faces are always welcome.

* We have the following medical equipment to loan out on an as need basis, wheel chair, bath seats, toilet seat riser and portable toilet chair, crutches or walkers. Call 402-648-3387 during office hours.

Meals on Wheels

*Would you like to get Meals on Wheels? Anyone over the age of 60 years and lives within the city limits are eligible for these meals. You may sign up anytime for the Meals on Wheels program; you can get the meals delivered however many times you want them each week. You must call 402-687-2332 before 8:30 a.m. if you want a meal that day. The suggested donation for the meal is $4.00.

 

Weekly Activities:

Wed. Oct. 4: Chime practice at 9:00 a.m. Coffee times at 10:00 a.m. FROG Ex. at 1:00 p.m. The golf game is on the agenda at 1:30 p.m.

Thurs. Oct. 5: Tai Chi Class at 9:30 a.m. Coffee time is at 10:00 a.m. Come and play Skip-Bo at 1:30 p.m.

Fri. Oct. 6: Come in for coffee. Sign up to play hand & foot tournament or the pinochle tournament at 1:30 p.m.

Mon. Oct. 9: Join us for coffee this morning.  Come and learn how to play Bunco, it’s a dice game, at 1:30 p.m.

Tues. Oct.10: Tai Chi Class at 9:30 a.m. Coffee time is at 10:00 p.m. Sign up to play hand & foot at 1:30 p.m.

Wed. Oct. 11: Chime practice 9:00 a.m. Coffee time is at 10:00 a.m. FROG Ex. at 1:00 p.m. Sign up to play in the pinochle tournament at 1:30 p.m.

 

Meals on Wheels

Getting tired of cooking for one person and then have left over’s that you will be eating for the next couple of days? Why don’t you consider getting meals on wheels; the meals are very nutritious and provide you with the protein, fruits and vegetables needed for a well balanced meal. Contact the manager at the Bancroft Senior Center if you have more questions or want to sign up; the number is 402-648-3387.

Wed. April 12: Chime practice at 9:00 a.m. Coffee times at 10:00 a.m. Fitness chair exercises at 1:00 p.m. Sign up for the pitch tournament at 1:30. Lesa Bargmann will be having another class on using rubber stamps to design any type of all occasion, photo album pages or the boarder around a special photo; this class is free and everything needed for the class is provided, the class starts at 1:30 p.m.

Thurs. April 13: Tai Chi Class at 9:30 a.m. Sign up to play in the pinochle tournament at 1:30 p.m.

Fri. April 14: Stop in for coffee. The center will be closed in the afternoon. Meals on wheels will be delivered today.

Mon. April17:  Today is the caregiver support group meeting at 2:00 p.m.

Tues. April 18: Tai Chi class at 9:30 a.m. Coffee time at 10:00 a.m. Sign up for the pitch tournament at 1:30 p.m. This evening is a French toast and pancake supper, serving from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Wed. April 19: Chime practice at 9:00 a.m. Coffee time is at 10:00 a.m. Fitness Chair Ex. at 1:00 p.m. Sign up if you would like to play 5-handed pinochle today at 1:45 p.m.

The senior center provides Information and Assistance to any individual who is looking for services for themselves or another person 60 years and older, the center manager and/or center participant can provide information to individuals on services available within the community. We link individuals to the services and opportunities that are available within or beyond the community itself. We will then establish adequate follow-up procedures to see that their needs were met. Wed. Nov.11: The melody chime group will practice at 9:00 am. Come for coffee at 10:00 am. Dominoes will be played at 1:30 pm.

Thurs. Nov.12: Rolls and coffee served from 9:00 am. until noon. Tai Chi class at 9:30 a.m. and the walking ex class at 10:45 a.m. Sign up to play in the pitch tournament at 1:30 p.m.

Fri. Nov.13: Rita Brehmer, a SHIIP volunteer, will be at the center from 1 – 4:30 p.m. to help you compare your plan to other plans that maybe more economical. She can also enroll new people into a drug plan. There is no charge for this service. Please sign up if you want to play in the pinochle tournament at 1:30 p.m.

Mon Nov. 16: The caregiver support group will meet from 2:00 – 3:30 p.n. Barb Fancher will be the guest speaker that day.

Tues. Nov. 17: Tai Chi class is at 9:30 am. and walking ex. class at 10:45 am. Stop in for coffee at 10:00 am. Sign up to play 5-handed pinochle at 1:30 p.m. The evening meal will be biscuits and gravy, serving from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Wed. Nov. 18: The melody chime group will practice at 9:00 am. Join us for coffee at 10:00 am. The golf card game will be played at 1:30.
