Megan Kay Cameron, age 34, of Lyons, Nebraska passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.  Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lyons-Decatur Northeast School.  Burial at a later date will be in the Lyons Cemetery.  Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, from 5 – 7 p.m. with family receiving friends and Prayers Service at 7 p.m. all at the Bethany Lutheran Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for later designation.  Pelan Funeral Services in Lyons in charge of arrangements.

Megan Kay Cameron was born July 7, 1983 at the Oakland Hospital to Steve and Sara Cameron of Lyons, Nebraska.   She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church.  Although her 34 years of earthly life were cut short, Megan packed a lot of living into her life.

Megan was the second of five children and grew up on a family farm near Lyons.  She had a very active childhood with her siblings and many treasured cousins.  In addition to helping out on the family farm, Megan was very active in sports, and also very involved in 4-H, showing pigs and rabbits. Always a great sense of humor, she once made a sign on her pig pen declaring, “Red ribbon hogs taste better.”

Megan was an honor student at Lyons-Decatur Northeast and left her mark there with many achievements, class of 2002.  She was also active in FFA, as an officer, and proud of her State FFA Degree.

Megan went to Northeast Community College, receiving her Associates Degree in Horticulture.  She married Bryce Olsen on August 9, 2003 and they had two beautiful daughters Sydney and Karsen.  She worked at Mulhalls Nursery in Omaha, Central Valley Ag near Lyons, many years at First Northeast Bank of Nebraska, and baked cakes in her spare time. Megan had a reputation for warming customers up with her contagious smile, warm personality, and infectious laughter.  Megan was very active in the community, Lyons Ball Association, a leader in 4-H, and served as a member of the Burt County Fair Foundation. She loved the Fair.

Megan’s greatest passion of all was raising and providing her two daughters with countless opportunities.  She coached many years of softball, basketball and volleyball.  She shared her passion with her daughters’ teams by saying, “If you love the game, you’ll play it forever like me.” We think she has joined a team in heaven.

Megan tragically passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa as the result of domestic violence.  Megan’s death is not in vain, as she saved many lives through her choice of organ donation.  Six organ recipients and 75 to 300 tissue recipients are receiving her lifesaving gifts. We were told she is in the top 2% of donors, as everything was perfect. Always a giver!

Megan is survived by her daughters Sydney Mae Olsen (12) and Karsen Kay Olsen (9); parents Steve and Sara Cameron; three brothers Sam Cameron (wife Stephanie), Lucas Cameron, Thomas Cameron, sister Kristen Cameron (fiancé’ Keith Grap), dear boyfriend Jaco De Villiers, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Pearl Brodersen, Jack and Tootie Cameron, and cousin Jennifer Brodersen Uhing.
