Gerald “Jerry” Brand, age 78, of Tekamah, Nebraska, a loving, caring father and grandfather, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Jerry was born August 25, 1937 outside of Herman, Nebraska to Violet Grabbe and Gerald Brand. He graduated high school from Tekamah, and on December 16, 1964 he married Karen Tranmer of Craig. They lived and farmed in the rural area outside of Tekamah through their retirement. Jerry was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed bowling, having coffee with his friends, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Karen, sons, Gerald (Vanessa) and Jarrod (Amanda); grandchildren, Kyle and Amelia, and Ravenna and Tamsin, and brother, Ellis Babbitt.
He is preceded in death by his parents, guardians Hans and Myrtle Christensen, and brothers Eldon, Neil, and David Babbitt.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, October 2, 2015, 2:00 pm at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.
VISITATION: Thursday, 6-8 pm with family receiving friends at Pelan Funeral Services in Oakland.
BURIAL: Craig Cemetery.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the family for distribution to local organizations at a later date.
