Pamela A. (George) Hedges, 62, of Lyons NE


Pamela A. (George) Hedges was born to Nicholas and Tressie (Roscoe) George on September 10, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at her home in Lyons, Nebraska, at the age of 62 years.

Pam grew up in Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School. Pam was married to Bill Hedges on September 9, 1984. She took pleasure in reading, baking and gardening.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She worked as a custodian, caregiver and a florist.She was heavily involved with the local farmers’ market as well.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Tressie George.

She is survived by her children, Hayley Jones and James Hedges both of Lyons; granddaughter, Jaiden Jones of Lyons; brothers, Doug (Barb) George, Greg (Betty) George all of Fremont, NE; sister, Cynthia George of Lyons.

A Memorial Service will be held Fri., Sept. 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons.

There will not be a visitation or a burial.

Memorials suggested to the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons.

Marian Christine (Svendsen) Wynn, 93, of Lyons NE


Marian Christine (Svendsen) Wynn was born to Andrew Peter Svendsen and Henriette Jensen on July 9, 1923 in Lyons, Nebraska. She passed away August 19, 2016, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years.

Marian graduated from Lyons High School in 1940. Upon graduation, she worked for the Glen L. Martin Bomber Plant in Baltimore, Maryland. It was there that she met the love of her life, Harold Willuknight Wynn. They were married on January 27, 1943. Her devotion to her husband continued through their 69 years of marriage.

Marian and Harold lived most of their lives on a farm near Lyons, where she enjoyed cooking and taking care of her husband. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Marian was also Chairman of the Methodist Church Fair Kitchen for many years. In 1980 she served as Worthy Matron in Eastern Star. She will also be remembered for her years of selling Avon, winning many awards for her hard work.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son, Robert; sister, Pauline Going; brothers, Edward and Andrew Svendsen.

She is survived by her son, Knight (Lynn) Wynn of Highland, WI; daughter, Paula (Richard) Nelson of Blair, NE; grandsons, Christopher (Sylvia) Wynn, Eric (Laura) Wynn, Jason Nelson; granddaughter, Kirstine (Jim) Chvala; great granddaughters, Haley Wynn, Analise Wynn, Gabrielle Wynn; great grandsons, Carter Wynn, Jordan Nelson.

Marian’s great devotion to her husband, her family, and many friends was an inspiration to all who knew her, and she will be terribly missed.

The Funeral Service is Tues., Aug. 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons, NE. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial is in the Lyons Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Pearl Barada, 91 years, of Lyons, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, NE.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, February 7, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, Lyons, NE.

VISITATION: Friday, 5-8 p.m. with family receiving friends with a PRAYER SERVICE at 7 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Services Lyons. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service at the church.

BURIAL: Evergreen Cemetery, Walthill, NE

Lyons, Ne

A summer family event called “Wilderness Escape: Where God Guides and Provides” will be hosted at First Presbyterian Church from May 27th to May 30th. Families step back in time at Wilderness Escape, exploring some of the adventures faced by Moses and the Israelites. Kids and adults participate at the Israelite Camp, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into Bible-times snacks, visit Moses, and collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s Word. Plus, everyone learns to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes at Celebration—a time of upbeat worship that gets everyone involved.

 

Kids and adults at Wilderness Escape VBS will join together to support the local food pantry.

MARVIN L. SUNDQUIST, 69 years, of Lyons, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, in a motor vehicle accident south of Uehling, Nebraska.
