Marcia Ann (O’Sullivan) Koski, 67, of Pender, NE, passed away February 1, 2016 at Pender Community Hospital in Pender. Funeral services will be Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Pender; Pastor Steve Breazier will be officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at United Church of Pender with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. The burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Marcia was born June 19, 1948 in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from Randolph High School. Marcia was united in marriage to Keith William Koski on July 3, 1974 in Wayne, NE. She worked at Legacy Garden Nursing Home in the kitchen and as a housekeeper, where she enjoyed sitting and talking with the folks at the nursing home. She loved camping, traveling, and eating out at restaurants. Marcia’s life revolved around her family, she especially loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Marcia traveled to many games and men’s fast pitch tournaments.

Marcia is survived by her husband, Keith W. Koski of Pender, NE; daughter, Lori (Doug) Prokop of Thurston, NE, Theresa (Scotty) Gerbes of Ankeny, IA, and Trish (Mike) Wegner of Pender, NE, grandchildren Ashley (Toby) Rose, Casey Prokop, Braden Prokop, Madalynn Gerbes, Austin Gerbes, Colton Gerbes, Michaela Wegner, and Avery Wegner; and great grandchildren, Hunter, Mary and Anna Rose. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Arlene Koski of Pender, NE; sister, Sheila Evans of Pocahontas, IA; and cousin, Andrea (Harry) Lindner of Norfolk, NE.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Janet O’Sullivan; sister, Juanita O’Sullivan; grandma, Bessie Boughn, and father-in-law, John Koski.

Robert “Bob” James Fendrick, 78, of Pender, Nebraska passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender; with Pastor Miles Ruch officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with a prayer service starting at 6:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home.

Bob was born April 14, 1937 to Anton and Wavia (Twyford) Fendrick in rural Thurston, NE. He attended Thurston High School and entered the United States Navy where he served in the Korean War. On January 3, 1960, he married Patricia Lou Kai at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE.

Bob was a member of the Pender Volunteer Fire Department from October 1960 until June 1984 and Fire Chief from 1971 until 1975. He worked for the City of Pender for 48 years, was a member of the NPPD Board, MEAN Board, and was the Weather Reporter for Pender to the National Weather Service. In his free time, Bob loved to play cards, garden, fish and hunt. He was a great pool player and handy man. Most of all, Bob loved his family and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Bob is survived by his wife Patricia of Pender, NE; daughters, Pamela (Mark) Buchholz of Omaha, NE, Rhonda (Rodney) Heise of Pender, NE; son, Kevin (Michelle) Fendrick of Pender; sisters, Betty Meister of Pierson, IA, Marlene Abendroth of Bancroft, NE; brothers, Harold (Darlene) of Eureka, CA, and Anton (Pamela) Fendrick, III of Tallahassee, FL, and eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank; sister, Twila; and parent-in-laws, Art and Florence Kai.

June was born April 5, 1947 to Edwin and Hilda (Jensen) Kubik in Pender, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. June graduated from Emerson High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State College in 1968. On May 5, 1968, she was united in marriage to Donald Sterling Hawk at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. To this union, two children were born.

While in high school, June worked part time for Kubik’s Corner. While raising her children, she worked at the Village of Rosalie and as a substitute teacher. June taught for Rosalie and later Bancroft-Rosalie Schools for over 40 years. She taught home economics, keyboarding, library, sociology, and independent living. June was also the FCCLA sponsor and assistant speech coach.

June is survived by her children, Monty (Jan) Hawk of Rosalie, NE and Heidi (Ryan) Eichelberger of Beemer, NE and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ardell H. Mueller, 92, of Pender, Nebraska died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Ardell was born February 19, 1922 in Emerson, NE to Henry and Rosa (Schutte) Mueller. Ardell was baptized October 14, 1922 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pender, and confirmed on March 21, 1937 at St. Mark’s Lultheran Church in Pender. He attended Emerson High School. Ardell married Irene Hix on December 23, 1950 in Columbus, NE. Ardell served his country as a Private First Class in automatic weapons in World War II and was specially trained for construction and equipment mechanics. Ardell was stationed on the island of Okinawa. He earned the Victory Medal, Theater Ribbon and the Army Occupational Medal. He was a member of the Mule Pack where he helped to prepare for the invasion of Japan. On October 17, 1946 he was honorably discharged. Ardell served as a member of the American Legion Post in Pender, then transferred to Thurston American Legion #372. He served the Legion on various committees for over 60 years.

Ardell was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was also a chairman on the Brotherhood Farm Project, and a member of the ASCS Thurston County Board. In his free time, Ardell loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Ardell is survived by his wife, Irene of Pender, NE; sons, Randy (Darlene) Mueller of Omaha, NE, Jim (Glenda) Mueller of Thurston, NE; sisters, Marilyn Hansen of Wakefield, NE, Mylet (Ted) Habrock of Emerson, NE; grandchildren, Stacey Mueller of Omaha, NE, Joel (Megan) Mueller of Omaha, NE, Leslie Mueller of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Kayden, and Jace, and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was born April 3, 1939 to Don and Iva Mae (Huffman) Ross in Homer, NE. He graduated from Dakota City High school in 1957. Roger married Faye Christiansen on May 23, 1959 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE. To this union, the couple had three children.

Roger was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine and a Mason in the Omadi Lodge #5 in South Sioux City, NE, and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed doing carpentry work and being outside gardening, fishing and camping. Roger loved spending time with his family and riding his scooter.

Roger is survived by his wife, Faye; sons, Roger Scott Ross of Pender, NE, Colin Ross of South Sioux City, NE; daughter, Shawn (Alan) Doht of Pender, NE, sister, Charlotte Doenhoefer of Dakota City, NE; sister-in-laws, Faye Christiansen of Pender, NE, Elaine Christiansen of Pender, NE, Jill Christiansen of Pender, NE, Sharon Buchholz of Pender, NE; brother-in-laws, Joel Christiansen of Lincoln, NE, Myron “Butch” Christiansen of Columbus, NE, Mert (Debbie) Christiansen of Pender, NE, many nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Alex Doht of Omaha, NE, and Eric Doht of Wisner, NE.
