Charles “Chuck” Frahm, 81 years, of Norfolk, Nebraska, formerly of Oakland, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Norfolk Veteran’s Home in Norfolk with his wife by his side. Memorial Service will be Tuesday, August 30, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. Military Honors will be conducted at the church following the service. No Visitation. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials to the family for later designation.
Charles Edward Frahm was born August 19, 1935, in West Point, Nebraska, to Mary (Strehle) and Hugo Frahm. Charles grew up on a farm near Lyons, Nebraska, where he attended country school and later graduated from Lyons Public High School. Charles entered into the United States Army and served from 1958-1959. He was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion and VFW.
Upon discharge from the Army, Charles came back home, and soon met his bride-to-be, Clara Huntemann. They married on May 21, 1961 at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point.
The couple moved to a farm west of Oakland, Nebraska and later moved to a farm near Rosalie, Nebraska. Finally, they settled near Oakland on the family farm, a home to them for 50 years.
Charles farmed and drove truck in those early years. Eventually they had three children, Debra, Bryan and Jay. In 2005, Charles purchased Harms Equipment. His love of selling and talking with farmers was his true joy! Charles was active in Bethany Lutheran Church during his many years in Lyons. Later, the couple made First Evangelical Lutheran Church their church home.
Charles had a great faith in God and his country. His love for his family was what really drove him to work so hard for so long.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugo; mother, Mary; stepfather, Clarence Monson; grandson, Garrett Frahm.
His legacy includes his wife, Clara; daughter, Debra (Glen) Galloway of Wayne, IL; sons, Bryan Frahm of Oakland, Jay (Michelle) Frahm of Parks, AZ; grandsons, Wesley Watson of Sedona, AZ, Carson Frahm of Hot Springs, SD, Jace Frahm of Parks; sister, Rosemary (Paul) Kai of Oakland; brother, Jim Frahm of Lincoln, NE.
